What is a genetic counsellor?

Genetic counsellors are specialist health professionals who are trained in both counselling and medical genetics. They work alongside other health professionals such as clinical geneticists to help individuals and families better understand genetic conditions and what causes them. Genetic counsellors also provide important emotional and practical support.
